Weather Conditions 

The Weather in the Annapurna Circuit can be unpredictable, with rapid temperature changes and sudden storms, especially at higher altitudes. Blizzards, intense winds, and cold can make navigating the Mesokanto Pass especially risky. Always trek with a Guide who knows about the local weather conditions. Avoid trekking, especially in the monsoon seasons (June to August), as there are high chances of rainfall that make the trail slippery and dangerous. However, the ideal time to trek is at the time of Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) when the weather is more stable with clear skies, offering you great views of towering peaks. 

Tilicho Lake and Mesokanto La Pass Trek - 14 Days FAQs

The Tilicho Lake and Mesokanto La Pass is a less popular alternative to the Classic Annapurna Circuit Trek via Thorang-La Pass 5416 M (17769 ft). The route takes you across the Mesokanto Pass, a remote location and high pass that connects Jomsom. The trail rewards you with a serene ambiance, awe-inspiring mountain vistas, and a perfect fusion of cultural experiences through elevated terrains.

The journey usually lasts about 14 days, depending on your speed and the time required to acclimatize yourself. This trek offers you opportunities to rest, acclimatize, and explore key sites like Ghorepani, Poon Hil, and Jomsom.

Trekking Tilicho Lake and Mesokanto La Pass is ideal during spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), offering clear skies, moderate temperature, and jaw-dropping Himalayan views.

The Mesokanto La Pass is situated at an altitude of 5,350 meters, which includes a high risk of altitude sickness, traversing through thrilling trail conditions. However, with adequate acclimatization, hydration, and proper planning, the pass can be easily traversed safely.

Although you can trek the Tilicho Lake and Mesokanto La Pass on your own, it is strongly advised to hire a Guide or make your journey with a registered trekking agency for better arrangements of facilities. The trail is less traveled and requires a Guide for proper navigation. Guides will also help you with accommodation bookings, manage permits, and offer you knowledge about the local culture.
