Below are some of the necessary permits to be obtained for the Mohare Danda Trek.

Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)

To trek in the Annapurna Conservation Area in Nepal, all visitors must obtain the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP). This permit can be obtained from the Nepal Tourism Board | National Tourism Organization of Nepal in Kathmandu or Pokhara. To obtain this permit, trekkers must provide two passport-sized photos and must carry the permit throughout the trek.

Annapurna Conservation Area Permit Fees

Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS) Card

The Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS) permit is required for all trekkers in Nepal, mainly for those who are trekking in the Annapurna region. This permit helps to track all the trekkers and ensure safety, along with ensuring trekking activities are properly regulated. The TIMS permit can only be obtained through a registered trekking agency. Therefore, the overall use of this permits us to help the authorities keep track of trekkers and improve safety in the mountains. You can get these permits in Pokhara at the Tourism Board Office or the entrance to the Conservation Area. If you are trekking with a local agency, they usually handle all the required permits on your behalf.

Trekkers Information Management System Card Fees

  • NRP 2,000 for Foreign Nationals
  • NRP 1,000 for SAARC Countries

Mohare Danda Trek Difficulty

The Mohare Danda Trek is a moderate-level trek, perfect for trekkers with basic fitness and some prior trekking experience. Mohare Danda stands at 3,300 meters (10,827 feet), which is lower than some of the more demanding high-altitude treks, making altitude sickness less of a concern. Below are some of the major factors that make the Mohare Danda trek a moderate-level trek in Nepal.

Duration and Terrain Conditions

The trek involves walking 5 to 7 hours each day, with some uphill and downhill sections, often along stone steps. While the terrain can be a bit rough, it is still manageable for those in good physical condition. The trail takes you through beautiful, lush forests, picturesque villages, and terraced farmlands, offering a balance of moderate ascents and descents along the way.

Altitude

The highest point of the trek is the Mohare Danda at an altitude of 3,300 meters, which is usually not high enough to cause major altitude problems. However, some may still feel mild symptoms of altitude sickness if they ascend too quickly. The route is designed with gradual ascents to help your body acclimatize more easily.

Weather

The weather during the Mohare Danda Trek can be unpredictable, especially during the Monsoon (June-September) or Winter (December-February), when rain and snowfall make the trail slippery and more difficult to ascend. However, trekking in Spring (March-May) and Autumn (September-November) is the best season, offering clear skies and pleasant temperatures.

Best Time to Do Mohare Danda Trek

The Mohare Danda Trek is relatively new and less crowded trekking route in Nepal, offering stunning views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The best time to do this trek depends largely on the weather conditions in the region.

Spring Season (March to May)

Spring, ranging from March to May, is one of the most favorable times for trekking in Nepal. The weather is generally mild, with daytime temperatures between 15°C to 20°C (59°F to 68°F), which makes it perfect for long hikes and comfortable trekking. The skies are usually clear, treating you with fantastic views of the surrounding peaks, and the rhododendron forests in full bloom, adding vibrant colors to the landscapes. With clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and well-maintained trails, the Spring season makes it a pleasant time to trek. It is an ideal time for nature lovers to enjoy blooming flora and vibrant green landscapes.

Autumn Season (September to November)

Autumn is another popular season for trekking in Nepal, with clear skies and stable weather. During this time, the daytime temperature is mostly stable, with nighttime being a bit colder in higher elevations. This season gives you the clearest views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, with the air being crisp and dry. Autumn is the most popular time for trekking in Nepal, with minimal rain and crystal-clear skies, making it a perfect season to soak in the breathtaking mountain views.

Winter Season (December to February)

Winter can be harsh in the Himalayas, with freezing nights, especially at higher elevations. Nightime temperatures often drop below freezing, with chances of snowfall making the trek more challenging. Winter brings snow-covered trails that can be slippery and harder to hike. Therefore, this season is best for experienced trekkers who are ready for cold conditions and are equipped with proper gear.

Monsoon Season (June to August)

The monsoon season brings heavy rain in Nepal, which can make trekking a bit challenging. While the temperature stays warm, the trails often become muddy and slippery, with high chances of landslides, making conditions more challenging and less safe. The monsoon season turns the landscape beautifully green, yet tough to navigate. Leeches are also more common in lower areas, making the monsoon season a bit less recommended time to embark on the Mohare Danda Trek.
