About Chitwan Jungle Safari
Chitwan National Park is located in the fertile subtropical plains of Nepal along the border with India. It is world famous as a wildlife refuge with a wide range of rare and exotic animals and plants. The park has the subcontinent’s largest animals including the Bengal Tiger, Indian Bison, One-Horned Rhino, crocodiles and wild elephants as well as over 480 exotic bird species and more. Our jungle safari is a thrilling must do adventure for visitors to Nepal.
Join us for an exciting journey through the protected realm of Chitwan National Park with a vast jungle full of wildlife. Chitwan National Park and adjoining Parsa Wildlife Reserve total 932 sq km / 360 sq mi. Chitwan became the first protected area of Nepal in 1973.
It has achieved the status of World Heritage Site (Natural) and is one of the most enjoyable and popular destinations in Nepal. The park’s lush landscape and exotic animals are the highlights including more bird species than any other protected area of Nepal.
Our Chitwan Jungle Safari is an exciting exploration of the grasslands and jungles with many Sal trees…sacred to Hindus and Buddhists, in fact Buddha was born under one in Lumbini, Nepal in the 6th century B.C.E.
Chitwan National Park averages around 150 mt / 490 ft above sea level, and even the snowy mountains can sometimes be seen to the north. March to June usually means fog in the mornings and evenings with fog in the cool winters, too. The grass is shorter from February to May and wildlife is more easily seen then. Autumn is beautiful, too, and the monsoon from June to September is wet and wild.
Guests enjoy comfortable lodging along the border of the park. The view from the lodge overlooks the broad plains and sunsets and sunrises are especially dramatic and drench the sky and landscape in unforgettable colours. Along with fine cuisine and the relaxing setting, we have exciting day trips into the jungles. There are several options for moving through the terrain and each offers a unique perspective and experience. All excursions into the jungle are led by a veteran, experienced guide who understands the area and animal patterns. Modes of travel include jeep, elephant back, canoe and even hiking about on foot.
Within the grasslands and forests, we have a good chance of encountering the world’s most exotic animals in their own natural environment. There will be photo opportunities and informative descriptions by the guides.
After the safari thrills, lounging at the peaceful lodge and soaking up the views and retelling the day’s safari adventure will be a memorable event. Dusk on the plains with the darkening of the skies as the stars come out will put you in another world.
Our Chitwan Jungle Safari is a chance to experience all that Nepal has to offer in a landscape far different from the mountains.
Please Note : There are additional options for more exploration in the Chitwan area including the Chitwan Chepang Hills Trail, river rafting, paragliding and more. If you have the time and the interest, we can combine this jungle safari with other adventures, too.
