The route passes via Prithvi Highway, which takes you through beautiful landscapes, small towns, and remote locations of Nepal. An early morning in Chitwan offers you a perfect opportunity to experience the park’s wildlife when the wildlife is more active. You can start your day with a jeep safari, where you get an opportunity to spot animals like one-hornedrhinocerosss, tigers, and various bird species. Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit the Chitwan Jungle Safari is during the month of winter (October to March), as during this time the weather is pleasant, and high chances to spot wildlife easily. However, throughout the year, doing the Chitwan Jungle Safari is possible, yet with a bit of challenging conditions. As per travelers, the monsoon season (June to September) is less ideal due to heavy rainfall and unpredictable weather conditions. Although, this season is perfect for birdwatching. 

Wildlife Etiquette

During the Chitwan Jungle Safari, make sure to follow all the safety precautions for a better experience of tour in the Terai region of Nepal. As you proceed for the Jeep Safari, always try to maintain a safe distance from the animals. Don’t make loud noises, and avoid using flash photography as it can disturb the animals. Weather and Climate 

Chitwan which is located in the Terai region of Nepal, is mostly considered to be a hot and humid place, especially in the month of summer. Reaching Chitwan, during the time of Summer, the temperature is mainly expected to be around 35°C (98 °F), so plan your tour accordingly. However, proceeding at the time of Winter brings cooler and comfortable temperatures, which range between 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F) during the day. Evening and nights can be colder so make sure to bring a jacket with you. 

Local Culture and Traditions

Chitwan is known to be the home of indigenous Tharu people, whose culture and traditions are unique from other religions. Therefore, during your approach to Chitwan, you will be offered a chance to visit the Tharu villages and learn about their tradition and customs which includes architecture, farming methods, and dance performance. Make sure to respect their norms and traditions when visiting the local communities. Dress properly and ask permission from them before you click photos of the locals. 

Cash and Payment

Traveling and exploring in Nepal, you must use the local currency which is the Nepalese Rupee (NPR), however, there are some places where they accept credit cards. Using the local currency for small purchases and tips, especially in Chitwan (Sauraha). Although you will be provided with many ATMs in Sauraha, it is best to exchange your cash from Kathmandu, as sometimes, the ATM is not always available. 

Meals Provided 

During the Chitwan Jungle Safari, you will be provided with three meals a day which include breakfast, lunch, and dinner. However, don’t forget to try local cuisines such as Dal Bhat, MoMo (dumplings), Ghongi (snell), and fresh fruits. Some of the lodges provide you with Western-style meal options.

To complete the Chitwan Jungle Safari, you must have the Chitwan National Park permit which can easily be obtained from the entrance of the park. You must require this permit as the National Park is one of the protected areas in Nepal, where you need a permit to make your journey to the protected area.
